The 31 best things to do with kids in Bossier City (2024)

The Margaritaville Resort Casino is a casino hotel with an island vibe located on the north side of the Louisiana Boardwalk. It offers gaming, sportsbook, and dining options.

Make sure to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴏʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ when booking your room. This website will compare thousands of booking web sites and typically will have rooms much cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This resort is one of the most well known in the area. I have been staying here for a very long time. If you choose this place you for sure won't regret it.I had the absolute best time. I loved the room. The river walk was my favorite part, it's so beautiful. The casino itself is beautiful. Well definitely stay again.

Don't forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your place. This website will compare countless booking websites and usually will have rates a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This resort is one of the most well known in the area. I have been coming here for a very long time. If you stay for a few nights you will love it I'm sure!I loved it here! Reminded so much of when I went to Vegas. Very friendly staff and very clean. Great view of the Red River and Shreveport's Lighted Bridge. It has great restaurants to choose from and a Boardwalk to walk by the river. Great place to take pictures.

Eddie G — Google review

Only for nose blind folks!!! WARNING to asthmatics!!! Both of us got lung issues walking through. Absolutely gagged walking through the main floor. Disappointed that the restaurant we went to a year ago has been replaced with a different one. (Not our style). I've been here before and that experience was NOTHING like today's. Simply horrendously smelly and disappointing.

Nomadic S — Google review

I base my reviews on value. I didn't see it here. The room had trash still in it when we arrived. It smelled of weed and smoke. Several furnishings were ripped or broken. The bed was comfortable, but at $300 a night plus a resort fee..... shabby. The service was abysmal. I was ignored twice at the poolside bar, each time for 20 minutes without even a glance. I didn't even have a chance to get the bartenders attention. She was very focused on one group of 6 and had no time for the other side of the bar. I did enjoy the over 21 after 6 pool experience. The casino didn't offer anything special, just the same games that can be found at the other 5 local options. It was nice to have them all on one level, but the surly doormen and floor attendants quickly killed any good vibes. I might return for the pool if they were running a super cheep special, but I won't again pay 4 star prices for 2 star service.

Crysteel C — Google review

Just average, not special or exciting as a resort. The seemingly Above Average Room had a massive flaw.* that took away the stars. The room was clean, had 2 trash cans, great lighting, with a individual room thermostat that worked. The large bathroom; a nice roomy walk-in shower complete with soft fluffy towels.*BUT -the Mattress Was Worn-Out to the point (on both sides) that this 120 pound woman sunk way down into the old memory foam? and felt like she had hit the true bottom. Climbing out was near impossible. Despite the extra pillows,( requested ahead on booking ) it was a truly miserable cut short night's sleep. Definitely cramped up an otherwise nice room to be scored a big zero. While waiting for Valet, overheard another couple discussing the SAME issue with a nice room but a HORRIBLE bed.No, experience did not have me seeking Management, the Spa or in the Casino when not able to sleep. We checked out early.

Stayed here while in town for work. An overall nice hotel. The casino was fun, too. The staff was very kind, courteous, and professional. My husband and I enjoyed our time here. Variety of food options on the property, so literally not having to leave was fantastic after a 6 hour drive. We will be coming back for sure. Oh and the internet speed was amazing!!

Was so excited to have Dragos come to bossier. Planned trip to enjoy a dinner there last Tuesday changed hours only to find they changed hours. Only no longer open on Tuesdays.A five star place but only open half week. Weekends too busy. Back to Oyster Bar for my seafood fix.

Usually a great experience when we visit. However, these past few times, it seemed more and more machines were down. I also would like to see more of the Lightning Link games. The four along the back wall are always taken. I have even seen players playing two machines during peak times.

Cheryl C — Google review

I am giving a one star review. I am giving this review because they allowed their sprinkler to soak the inside of my car. I parked in the handicap parking area. The area on the back right hand side. The last handicap parking spot by the tree. The sprinkler was pretty much aimed directly into my window. I asked them to shut it off and they did not. It soaked my seat, my door, my center console, my radio, my plugs for my electronics, my cell phone, my interior passenger side got the most water damage but the entire front had water to some extent. My battery was dead and I couldn't roll my windows up. I was waiting on triple A to come give me a jump. They did jump my car, but by that time the damage was done. The casino did not offer anything not even a towel to dry my vehicle. I am beyond irritated and disappointed. I was unaware I parked near a sprinkler because there was no sign stating to be cautious of the sprinklers. I feel the casino could have done more to make it right instead I had to wait for a long time for my car to dry out. I do not recommend Margaritaville. Not to mention their machines are very tight and the free play is almost non existent I was getting it on a regular basis and suddenly it stopped. Even with my card being used in the machines and me playing the online app. I am also from out of state. So, it makes it even worse. I do frequent the area. But, I can say unless they make it right my opinion will remain low of this casino. I will spend my money elsewhere.

I really enjoyed my visit at the resort. It was soooo good to be back in Louisiana. The casino was nice with a variety of games. The rooms were very comfortable and cozy. I'm still going to give it 5 stars although there was no microwaves in the rooms. Everything else was excellent 👌🏾.

Shanda W — Google review

Room was nice, checking was good. Waitresses sucked. I observed waitresses at the bar getting orders filled. All of em just standing there lolly gagging including the bar tender. While playing I was able to get a drink every 75 minutes. I even looked for waitresses bit couldn't find any, cause they were all at the bar. They would take like 2 orders at a time. Glad I don't come here at all. Only reason we stayed here was for a Dr's appointment. Never again. I'll bring my own beer and go to the room for a refill. It'll be much much faster than your waitresses.

Great Service from the front desk. The Woman behind counter was courteous, and made the transaction easy. I got there to meet my date and you know. I tell you these dating apps are great for a romp. What happen to the times i don't know, but i don't think anyone is looking for a relationship anymore lol. The company was great for the 1 1/2 she stayed, and i was kinda thinking she wanted me to buy dinner or something. So I had to play the "Pick N Roll" on her. You know the ole "Pick her up, and sent her home!" Shower was good and spacious. Overall the place was great, the sleep was great, and the Pick N Roll worked to perfection. Thank you Margaritaville the stay was great. I would recommend this hotel 10/10..

Our bellhop was great and when we called for maintenance they were great. My issue is if you spend THAT much money per night, you should get your room cleaned each day. Live and Learn…. Won’t come back!

Trey W — Google review

It wasn't a terrible experience, but it definitely could've been better. The biggest issue that my family and I had was that housekeeping was not great. We had to go down to the lobby not once but THREE times (over the span of about 3 hours) just to have housekeeping notified that we were requesting more towels. For there being 4 of us, two towels are definitely not enough. If the phone in the room would've been working, that might've helped, so we wouldn't have to keep going back down to the lobby. The crazy part is that housekeeping was only a few doors down from us, so not sure what the holdup was. It shouldn't take 3 hours for extra towels to be sent to the room.Secondly, in the casino, while playing at one of the machines, it just turned off with no warning. I asked security (since they were the closest) if they could notify someone to come to my game and they tried to make it seem like that happening was normal. Not sure how it's normal for a game to cut off in the middle of playing, but whatever. The lady that ended up coming to check out what was wrong barely said two words to me. After that, I didn't spend another dime in the casino. I've had better service at other casinos.

D W — Google review

Our room was very nice and had a great view of the river. The casino is starting to need some updating, it still has lots of the older machines but if that is what you like then that is a good thing. The boardwalk is very nice and clean with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. All the staff we encounterd were all very nice. We didn't win any money but had a great time on our two day getaway.

nitro3899 — Google review

This was a nice place to visit. The rooms were nice and clean, and the view of the red river was nice. Also you could see the city of Shreveport right across the river. They did have a few food places inside, food was a little on the spicy side but good. The service was very friendly and polite. The slots a d table games had a good verity and you can actually win here. Overall Great place to go also kid friendly and you can bring your pets.

Brice B — Google review

Terrible for the price. Vegas last year was cheaper, including the flights. I’ll just start at the beginning. When we checked in we were charged more than quoted on the phone, or what the email reflected. We got to our room, which was great, but NO housekeeping service-dirty towels/trash/soap and tp replenishing was non existent. We even called to get housekeeping, and still had to find a guy with a cart to get clean towels. So, our trash piled up in our room, ran out of hand soap in the bathroom, and almost the toilet paper. Never seen such thin toilet paper in my life. The view was great from the room but for the price wasn’t worth it. Morale seemed very low in the casino. We ended up going to Horseshoe and the casino actually looked like a casino. BEAUTIFUL! Horseshoe has great food, a real bar, great music, high morale. The staff there was great! Anyways, we had booked our room at Margaritaville for 3 nights so just went there to sleep on their hard, uncomfortable bed. On a good note, the coffee bar & service there was great. At checkout there’s only 1 baggage cart. Crazy! So with all the luggage we had we had to wait for 45 minutes just to leave. Eric, the manager was helpful by adjusting our room rate to reflect what we were quoted. Still ends up higher than Vegas. We even saw him taking towels to a room. Hard worker, but he’s not supposed to be doing that. What’s really going on here?Overall, the hotels not very accommodating or considerate of people’s needs when it comes to common and basic needs of hotel guests. Will not be going back, ever. Oh and in case anyone is wondering, there are NO buffets at any of the casinos here. LAME!

Kendra P — Google review

I will definitely stay here again. Quiet and rooms were clean. Maybe more towels and clean the wood counters better under the sink. Beds seem like a full size and not queens. Other than that, our stay was exceptional. I also loved that they were kid friendly.

Martika B — Google review

The rooms are some of the best in the city! If you get a room on the top floor with the bathtub, it's amazing. You have a double balcony and a dining table that seats 8. You could literally have a party in this apartment. You could almost live in it. It's beautiful exquisite taste and wonderful bathtub definitely large enough for two

Standard resort for the area. I stayed here for the room which was clean and spacious. TV deal can be annoying so I recommend using your Netflix account to save the trouble of the other apps. All of the staff were very nice and professional. You can walk to a few stores and restaurants from here also which is a huge plus. I tried the cafe near the main lobby bar and the food was hot and fresh.

Baxter — Google review

The place is not bad. I will say, $350 for a weekend night is a bit ridiculous and completely not worth the price. The room was a good size. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The minimum bet of the tables seemed a bit high. There are way too many penny slots. The store onsite is closed which was highly inconvenient. Not all the restaurants are open.It is pretty close to the boardwalk shops which is nice. You could walk to them if you wanted, but the parking lots are connected so I would recommend just driving over. They do have free valet parking but we could not find a valet when we needed to park so we ended up parking ourselves each time.It is also pretty close to downtown.Overall, given the weekend price, I'd say it's not worth the price and would recommend staying elsewhere.

So our 4 night vacation started off bad. They put us in a broken room 1008, electrical outlet hanging out of wall with exposed wires, fridge did not work, ceiling fan broken, phone headset broken, coffee maker broken, shower handle fell off and ac unit had high pitched squeal. Then we asked to be moved, they sent up a very rude maintenance person, who wanted to fix it while we were in the room and told us they won't move our room. Finally after talking to manager they gave us a new room 3 doors down, wouldn't you know it, they took the broken coffee maker and changed it with that room we were moved to, so we had to get the good one back. Ther electrical outlet behind nightstand hanging out(just ignored that) in the new room. No compensation offered all.The rooms either has mold or something allergens every morning wake up sneezing and stuffy, after a few hours from room it would clear up.BRING YOUR OWN TOILETRIES!! They have used soaps and shampoos in large bottles that are gooped up a d could be tampered with toilet paper is sandpaper. Over chlorinated water will leaves skin red and burning.Decided to go to gym, our keys never worked, hotel desk said they should and didn't offer to validate. OK let's use the hot tub, ice cold!!! and no controls and dirty.Only have free valet on weekends, trying to get car keys took an hour ask front desk had to wait for security. The front driveway was being repainted. The outside hotel can use a powerwash with all the spiderweb and bugs stuck to walls.Ordered a club sandwich and they burnt the cursaunt. Rest of food eh just okHalf the casino was being remodeled, could not play all games, high roller slots room closed for some reason.Room service was closed, this being a Vegas owned casino payouts were very limited if any, always better payouts at indian owned casinos. The atmosphere on the casino floor was fun, casino workers, and cleaning staff friendly.Don't think we will return due to the issues we had from the first few hours.2 stars was based on hotel staff and management. Casino was fun.FYI kiosk machine round down so take your tickets to cashier cage.

I visited the casino 🎰 on a Sunday evening. Nice clean casino. I didn't stay overnight to experience the rooms. Staff was friendly. They had plenty of spots open on the tables. A nice selection of slots to choose from. I had the best luck playing the $1 slots. The Baboo Asian restaurant inside the hotel had good food .

Gabe M — Google review

The casino is great with a selection of slots and the staff was very nice but we were staying here for my moms early surgery just like we do every time she has to go in. It’s kind of a ritual to stay here at this point. And this time we had some issues. The room next to use was throwing a very loud party. And we were not the only ones to notice. Our room was at the end of the hall and the “party room” was right past ours at the very end of the hall on the same side. We complained about the loud noise but just wanted a different room… we didn’t get a new room but the front desk lady did call them, which did not help. They started partying very loudly again and we went down again to complain and at this point multiple people were complaining as you could hear them screaming and the music at the elevators. We yet again asked for a different room but she informed us they did not have a room to give us. But she followed us up stairs and let us get back into the room before knocking on their door and giving them a final warning or they would be removed from the premises. At this point we just said whatever we will let everyone else complain and sure enough they didn’t quite down. Finally got quite around 12 at night and we left our room at 5 am. We will be staying again because of how nice it is and we really do enjoy this hotel but I am highly disappointed with our stay this particular time.

April S — Google review

Stayed at this location multiple times and have had a good time from food to room quality. The only downside this year is that the check-in staff didn’t tell me there was a master light switch so I thought some of the light bulbs were broken. There needs to be improved communication from the staff and hotel guests.

Wow. This place has went downhill. Everything from the staff to the establishment. We were very disappointed. Every year we stopped through here on our way to vacation and on our way back as welland spend tons of money. Booked our reservation for six and was guaranteed a two Queen suite with a balcony view as usual. When arriving to the property early around 4:30 in the afternoon after confirming the room we were told our room would not be available for at least the next hour and a half to 2 hours. 3 1/2 hours later when finally walking into our room there were only two beds in no balcony. Knowing there's no way this room could accommodate us all we went back down to the office to let them know about the mix-up. The staff sat there after previously confirming our room was the one we reserved blatantly lied to our faces and said they're not allowed to book the specific room that we reserved . On top of that moved us to an even smaller one king room. After the third time going down to the office explaining the situation politely the staff treated us as if we were the ones that did something wrong. After 45 minutes of arguing back and forth over the situation I decided to go to the VIP office and talk to a gentleman there about the situation. They were not accommodating either but when it was all said and done they finally offered us the room that we were originally comped at a ridiculous amount. Over 500 bucks a night on a Wednesday. Knowing that we had nowhere else to go and had to take the deal. Finally getting to the proper room after having to pay even more for our stay the room wasn't even cleaned. They were dirty underwear beside the bed trash out in the bins and on the floor and stunk like sour milk. Needless to say we will never be coming back here again unless compensated for such a horrible experience. It was one of the most embarrassing things we've ever witnessed at this establishment. Oh we were also scheduled to stay on our way back as well and promise the exact same room don't think that's going to happen not even going to chance it fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on you.

This should be a wonderful place to visit, but it is overrun with crime. My wife and I left the hotel without staying a single night. Fortunately the clerk refunded our money without issue but it didn’t appear this was the first time she had done this. I was disappointed with the city a whole. I ate at a great restaurant but had to drive through the hood to get there. Upon arriving back at the hotel I was greeted by a drug dealer and his friends who had an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from them and they were clearly blitzed out of their minds as they we just standing in front of the elevator hoping it would show up. I moved around them and pressed the call button. When the elevator arrived we were lucky to have two arrive so we didn’t have to ride with them. No one to include security appeared to care they had copious amounts of marijuana on them. We made it to our room and where someone repeatedly knocked on our door until I answered it. Fortunately I left the door catch secured as it appeared it was a setup to get in our room. At this point my wife felt extremely uncomfortable and we decided it was time to go. This is not the caliber I expect from the Margaritaville Hotel brand as the one I stayed at in TN was very nice. They need to clean this hotel up or remove their branding from it.

We did not have a good experience gambling here. No one was able to help us activate our play card even when all information was correct. The attendants said that there was nothing they could do. I didn’t like gambling in cash or having to pay the atm fee. The room was clean but wasn’t much for $200. They say that you save up to 30% for being a first responder but when we saw the receipt, it was the same price as a normal room. No free breakfast and not very welcoming. Even when you are gambling, no one was walking around taking free drink orders. We sat at the bar and paid for a couple drinks. The only good thing about the whole experience was the nice man at the bar who made us some amazing drinks. They were very over priced at $10 for a small drink but they tasted great.

If you're looking for a "high class" hotel experience then don't stay here. The room we stayed in #819 was very dated. No USB plugs like most hotels have. The ceiling fan looks like it could fall at any minute. The room was clean. The bed was not too uncomfortable. I forgot to take pictures. But if I'm going to spend the money to stay at a casino hotel I'll stay at the Horseshoe.

We usually go to Boomtown but tonight we stayed at Margaritaville. Hotel room was good overlooking the river. Lady luck was on my side. I won my first hand pay jackpot, $5,520 and another good win. Overall the casino was packed but we had a good time

Had no issues with arrival. But at 6:30 this morning they decided to test the fire alarm, woke up the whole building and then turned off the power for 30 minutes to the whole floorAfter the power came back on, most things still were not working. TV was down. Electronic menus and casinos were downI understand maintenance is important. What kills me is none of- and I mean NONE - of the employees acknowledged the inconvenience it caused. They all acted like it was my fault and made me feel very unwelcomeEven the guy at the cafe downstairs, their electronic menu was down, so I asked what coffee options they had, he seemed extremely bothered by it, like was asking for a for a free 5-star mealDefinitely won’t be back

Ms. Raven was amazing upon our arrival. The check in process went very smooth, our room was ready at check in, and very easy to find the elevator. Our room was amazing 😍!! The room gave us a beach vibe feel wich was beautiful! The hotel it self is very beautiful from the staff to the decor to lounges !! The casino part was cool just wish it had some better slots. The pool was just fantastic! The view was breath taking ! We a had a great time and will love to visit again.

Our stay here was amazing. The room was beautiful and even had a ceiling fan which made sleeping so much more comfortable. The pool and poolside bar were great with an amazing view of the Red River. The drinks were tasty, although they didn’t have salt for the margaritas! All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed here and loved it. Won a little and wish we would of gotten a chance to try the other restaurants. Rooms were clean and the valet staff was super !!!!! They were so nice and friendly. Worth using them to valet and take up luggage. We will definitely be back. The pool was nice and everything was very clean. My only issue was the sports book restraunt was slow and the waiter was nice but not anything to write home about!

Lyndsey R — Google review

The jewel of the Shreveport market. A more intimate experience that brings fun for gaming and non. The changes in food options are very cool and delicious. The new expanded sports bar is fantastic. Missed Johnathan on my last visit? Still good food with amazing big screen sports viewing! While the franchise restaurant placement had a challenging opening, it has improved dramatically. Jimmy's remains a consistent jewel. Try eating at it's bar. Great relaxing high end with attractive service. Pool and spa are great. Ms Ford at check-in was professional and detailed.

Rooms are very nice. Tvs need to be a little bigger and would be nice to get to the hdmi ports on it. They wouldn't change sheets or towels till we put ours in the hallway. 10 minutes later they show up. Pool and bar where amazing. Live music was phenomenal.

It was the perfect weekend getaway and road trip. My daughter is a "foodie" and loves to try out different restaurants all over the world and she wanted to try out several restaurants in the area and at the casino. We had a great time, won a little cash, ate great food and simply relaxed. I most definitely will be back again!

Margaritaville is the first casino I've ever been to. It was great! I didn't stay in the hotel, but the casino had a lot of fun variety. Minus one star for no gift shop.As a note, I have a service dog. They were fantastic about him being there!

Alexandra J — Google review

Love the tropical vibes and valet staff. Front desk is only there to check you in nothing else. When asking for extra towels they told us it was laundry day and we would need to seek out housekeeping on the 3rd floor. The pool is gorgeous but expect to see one adult with 5-6 kids who may be in jeans or shorts. No swim dress code enforced. It’s like an unsupervised community swimming pool. DJ is phenomenal yet this is not a place adults can relax unless you don’t mind a hot rub and pool full of kids. Jimmy’s steak house is great and Drago’s a close second with poor interior design. I won’t be coming back and will return to Horeshoe Casino.

Lori H — Google review

My wife and I enjoyed our two night stay a great deal. Our room was very nice with a good view of the river. I thought their room pricing was fair in this era of hotel price gouging. The gambling was fun but the slots were oh so tight! We ate in the sports book several times and the experience was excellent. I recommend Margaritaville Bossier City and will return.
